HB5315, Open Meetings Act Passed

At the eleventh hour, the Illinois Senate return HB 5315, Alternative Open Meetings Act Training for Drainage Commissioners and SWCD Directors, to the floor for a vote.

On January 3rd, the Senate passed HB 5315 with a vote 53 yeas, 0 nays, and 1 Present.  The Bill will now move to Governor  Quinn’s Desk for approval.

The Illinois Association of Drainage Districts thanks Illinois lawmakers for supporting this important legislation and urges Governor Quinn to sign the proposed bill into law.

H.B. 5315 allows the Illinois Association of Drainage Districts to provide on-site training at educational meeting instead of completing the training online.  The alternative training would meet the new state requirement that all appointed and elected officials must complete the open meeting act training. If the legislation passes, The alternative training conduct by a certified instructor would be completed at IADD hosted meetings at no extra cost to Attorney General Office.
